Centro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica
Public institution dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art, member of the Municipal Secretary of Culture of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The current management has the objective of making peripheral artists visible to the history of art, as well as democratizing access to the public. The collection consists of two installations of Richard Serra (the artist's only permanent work in Latin America, produced at the Rio Rounds exhibition in 1997), documentation on the institution's history, and 2,000 books and publications on contemporary art. Inaugurated in 1996, it was reference until 2009 to house works by Hélio Oiticica (1937 - 1980) in agreement with the HO Project, besides exposing important national and foreign artists of contemporary art as Mira Schendel, Iole de Freitas, Sônia Andrade, Lygia Pape, Antonio Manuel, Daniel Buren, Luciano Fabro, Tehching Tsieh, among others.
